Pak Flood Situation to Worsen as Rivers Indus, Swat Continue to Swell, Death Toll Inches Towards 1,000
The Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in Pakistan has declared a rain emergency in several districts in the province until 30 August. The Provincial Disaster Management Agency warns that the Swat River can witness a very high flood, the Dawn news agency reports.
Floods in Pakistan have affected more than 30 million people with Balochistan and Sindh provinces. The victim died because the flood could reach 1,000 and millions were needed in economic assistance for those who had been affected by the flood.
Meanwhile, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and KP Minister Mahmood Khan met people who were affected by floods in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank. Imran suggested that building small and medium -sized dams throughout the country can reduce the impact of flooding.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Sindh on Thursday and announced a 15 billion PKR worth assistance for affected floods.
On Friday, 12 people were killed in flash floods in various parts of SWAT. The river has swelled to floods that have removed at least 24 bridges and 50 hotels. Some videos on social media show people running for their lives as mosques, houses and buildings are washed in floods.

In the Chatekal Gwalerai area in Swat, seven people were killed after the roof of their house was preferred because of heavy rain. The emergency operation center in the region warned that the river could swell in such a way that it could ‘produce a dangerous situation for people who live nearby’.
Along with the Swat River, the Indus River in Pakistan is also expected to swell and cause flooding in the Kalabagh and Chashma areas. The Pakistani meteorological body warned that the region could witness severe floods during the weekend because the river could reach ‘high to very high flood levels’.
The Pakistani government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mobilized Army personnel in all affected provinces. “Army personnel were placed to reach out to civilian authorities in aid activities in the area that was flooded,” the Minister of the Interior Pakistan Rana Sanaullah in a tweet.
