At least 10 killed, 8 injured in blast outside military airport in Kabul
An explosion was reported outside a military airport in Afghanistan’s Kabul on Sunday. At least 10 people were killed in the deadly blast.
Today morning an explosion took place outside Kabul military airport, due to which a number of our citizens were martyred and injured,” spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor told Reuters, adding that investigations are underway. The specific nature or target of the explosion is not known yet.
A loud explosion was heard before 8 am in the vicinity of the military side of the heavily fortified airport, Reuters reported. The area has been sealed off by security forces, and all roads have been closed.
On December 12, unidentified gunmen attacked a hotel popular with Chinese business people in Kabul. Smoke was seen pouring from the multi-storey Kabul Longan Hotel before Taliban security forces rushed to the site and sealed off the neighbourhood.
The Taliban claim to have improved security since storming back to power, but there have been scores of bomb blasts and attacks, many claimed by the local chapter of the Islamic State group.
