Taliban To Reopen Afghan Public Universities, No Word On Female Students

Read Time:47 Second

Afghan State University, was closed because the Taliban won power in August, will be reopened in February, said the Taliban Higher Education Minister on Sunday, without determining whether female students will be able to return.
Universities in warmer provinces will be reopened from February 2, while those in a cooler area will be reopened on February 26, Minister, Shaikh Abdul Baqi Haqqani, told a press conference in Kabul.

He doesn’t say what arrangements if anything will be made for female students. In the past, Taliban officials suggested that women be taught in separate classes.

So far, the Taliban government has reopened high school for boys only in most countries. Some private universities have been reopened, but in many cases female students have not been able to return to class.

The Western government has made education for female students as part of their demands when the Taliban look for more foreign assistance and not take pictures of foreign assets.
